The Assembly Health Committee will hold a hearing on October 26 on “Medicaid Program Efficacy and Sustainability,” where chair Richard Gottfried (D-Manhattan) will detail his priorities ahead of this year’s budget debate.
The Committee plans to examine reforms instituted by past Medicaid Redesign Teams and their impact on access to care. The Committee will focus on the Medicaid global spending cap (which limits program spending growth at the rate of medical inflation) and the shift toward Medicaid managed care. We also expect members to discuss the adequacy of wages for nursing home and home care workers.
Providers, State agencies, and labor unions are expected to testify. The in-person hearing will be held at 10:00 a.m. at 250 Broadway in New York City.
GNYHA will submit a written statement outlining our 2022 agenda, including our thoughts on the Medicaid program. A live stream of the hearing will be available here.
