Michael Johnston joined GNYHA’s The Health Economics and Outcomes Research Institute (THEORI) in 2010. Mr. Johnston is responsible for designing, coding, testing, and implementing HIPAA-compliant data portals where facilities can securely enter patient data and receive real-time reports using data visualization. Mr. Johnston has built applications for data collection projects, including New York–Reducing Avoidable Hospitalizations (NY–RAH), NYS Partnership for Patients (NYSPFP), GNYHA-United Hospital Fund’s STOP Sepsis Collaborative and IMPACT to Reduce Readmissions collaborative. Prior to joining GNYHA, Mr. Johnston worked for Blue Cross/Blue Shield, WellPoint, and TrustSolutions, a Medicare program safeguard in contract with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
