Medicare GME

Medicare pays teaching hospitals its share of direct graduate medical education (DGME) and indirect medical education (IME) costs for training physicians. In order to receive Medicare GME reimbursement, teaching hospitals must comply with a complex set of rules on the approval of residency training and the counting of resident time. GNYHA helps its member hospitals understand these rules and advocates for policies that support teaching hospitals in their mission to provide high-quality residency education.
